Sonning Scarecrows
Every other year, Sonning presents two days of fun and frivolty as village residents display their creative talents with a whole host of topical and traditional Scarecrows. But it's not just scarecrows, some of Sonning's lovely gardens are open for you to view and there's a great collection of classic cars to enjoy.
Programmes are on sale for you to find out what's what and who's who! The money from programme sales goes towards improving village facilities.
The Village is closed off to general traffic from 11am to 4.30pm because it gets very busy with everyone looking at the scarecrows and there's a competition for the best displays too. You'll be asked to vote for your favourite.
If you're looking for refreshment The Bull, Coppa Club and Tacito (new in the High Street) will all be open.

The Sonning Regatta
It's an extravaganza of Dragon Boat racing along the Berkshire banks of the Thames (Coppa Club side) supported by WindowWorx.
The Adults race from 10.30am through to 1pm and then it's the turn of the Juniors from 1.30pm.
Most seats are now taken in both Adult and Junior Dragon Boat teams but you never know there may be a late withdrawal - go to Race Control when you get there and find out if there is a spare seat.
Otherwise viewing is free and there is food and drink of all sorts avaialble along the river side. Or bring your own picnic as many people do.

The Elegant Picnic
The Elegant Picnic is an outdoor "black tie" and "posh frock" event held each year to cover the costs of The Sonning Regatta. Guests reserve a gazebo spot around the main dance marquee and bring their own picnic, food and drink. This year there will be a beer bar. There is live music from The Party Nuts, back by popular demand for their third consecutive year with dancing in the dance Marquee on a proper dance floor so bring your dancing shoes.
It's £30 per ticket and the gazebo plot cost £50. The Elegant Picnic is open to Sonning residents and their friends only. If you are interested email robjones66@mac.com
